Grassroots Community Beginnings

"Hair by Claudia" (Wembley, London): The creative hub where the original Grow Jamaica (2007) was edited, facilitated by the late great Mr Delroy Chung, who managed the  UK division, studio space and managed merchandising at events like the Notting Hill Carnival.

Delroy Chung was a Northwest London community leader originally from Chalkhill Estate whose illness in 2024 was the catalyst for Itality. Delroy was also one of the founding fathers of the Grow Jamaica UK movement.

Delroy ensured that the groundbreaking documentary become a reality out of his wifes hairdressers (formerly called 'Quality Time') in Wembley.

Ironically it was also through his dedicated family and freinds search for help for Delroys cancer that the Itality movement was sparked.

His son Rakim found that the produce from a unique local farm ( Big up to Rickys Alkaline Market Garden & Fruit Forest and Farm Shop, Denham) really helped with the management of his dads condition.

With the alkaline diet the search also led us to cannabis oil which helped with pain relief and prolonged life but as we embarked on this journey way to late in the process of this aggressive form of cancer time ran out on us and unfortunatly Delroy passed on,  leaving a legacy that continues to inspire all those who knew him.

Del was the Original General (OG) and we miss him dearly...RIP

The Director of Grow Jamaica was Dennis 'Prap' Mendoza. Dennis is Northwest Londons answer to Spike Lee. Hailing from Chalkhill Estate he is a supreme director who also directed North By Northwest (2011).

Grow Jamaica became critically acclaimed at three international film festivals, California Film Festival, Flashpoint Film Festival and the British Film Festival.

Prap we salute you.

Mr Richard Gordon was the Associate Producer and travelled to Jamaica with Prap to assist with the production ensuring the documentary was completed effectively.

On his return to Church End Estate, in Northwest London, he formed Capo Power Media Productions and went on to produce North by Northwest with Dennis Mendoza.

Top man, mentor and community leader.

Nuff Respect

Stephen Watson is also from Willesden, North West London and the nephew of Bro Leeroy Campbell. After visiting his uncle in Jamaica and reading their book he returned to UK and Executive Produced the documentary Grow Jamaica and is currently working on Grow Jamaica 2.

Ioney Smallhorne worked with Prap on the editing and writing of Grow Jamaica. A talented writer and photographer, whose expertise was invaluable.
